According to a new survey, women cook twice as much as men. During the pandemic, more men cooked at home, but last year the gap between men and women preparing meals in the kitchen grew.
On average, women cook almost 9 meals a week, compared to 4 for men. However, there are many differences, depending on where you live.
Men and women equally share the task of cooking at home in many European countries, including Spain, Switzerland, France and the UK. In Italy, men actually do more cooking than women.
The gap widens in developing countries. In Ethiopia, Tajikistan, Nepal and Egypt, women prepare the highest number of meals per week.
