Earth’s Inner Core Is Changing Speed

Scientists have discovered that the core of the earth is moving more slowly than the outer parts. This has happened several times in the past and geologists say there is no reason for panic.

Information that has been gathered for the last few decades shows that the earth moves through a 70-year cycle. For 35 years it spins faster, then, for the same time, it spins slower than the surface.

This data is based on waves from earthquakes. However, not all scientists agree with this theory.

The earth’s core has a diameter of about 2300 km. It is made up of liquid iron and has a temperature of over 10 000 degrees Fahrenheit.
