The Secrets of Making Egyptian Mummies

Scientists have now discovered in detail how the ancient Egyptians made their mummies. They found out what ingredients they used and how they applied them on different body parts.

An excavation site discovered in 2016 has revealed old pots from an embalming room that dates back to about 600 B.C. The pots had labels with the names of substances in them and even had instructions on how to use them.

Ancient Egyptians used a wide range of materials to embalm their dead, including plant oils, animal fat, beeswax, and resins . While some substances came from the Mediterranean region, scientists discovered that there were other materials from trees in Asia and Africa.

Egyptian embalmers understood a lot about preserving the dead body, especially about how to get rid of bad smells . As time went on, embalming methods became more complex.
