Rubik’s Cube

Rubik’s Cube is a 3-D puzzle game that became famous at the beginning of the 1970s. It was invented by Hungarian designer and professor, Ernö Rubik. At first, he used the cube to teach his students about logical movements. They were thrilled and realized that solving the puzzle was actually fun. A few years later, Rubik started selling his new puzzle in Hungary and later on worldwide. By 1980, two hundred million cubes had been sold.

The cube has six sides of coloured blocks. The three rows of each side can be moved in any direction. The puzzle is finished when each side of the cube has only one colour. In order to solve it, you need a lot of practice, as well as mental and physical skills.

Over the decades, there have been many speed cube competitions, in which people try to solve the puzzle as fast as they can. At the moment, it takes the best players 4 seconds to finish.
